Dr. Estévez received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez, and his Ph.D. from the Cellular and Molecular Medicine graduate program at Johns Hopkins University. For his graduate work, he studied the functional interaction of synaptic proteins with a role in dendritic morphology and plasticity. His postdoctoral research, at the University of Pennsylvania, looked into the role of histone acetylation, an epigenetic marker, in memory consolidation.
At Mindspec, Dr. Estévez is a scientific annotator focused on the Animal Model module of AutDB. As a member of the Animal Model annotation team, Dr. Estévez curates and updates the pheno-base, the phenotypic database, which is a standardized repository of meta-data. Dr. Estévez also spearheads the rat ASD model annotation, and helped launch the rat model data in AutDB.
