Dr. Pereanu earned his B.S. in Biology from the University of Arizona and his Ph.D. in Developmental Neuroscience from UCLA. His thesis work focused on describing the anatomy of the larval and pupal brains in the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. He has since continued to extend his work into the adult fly. He has published eight peer-reviewed research articles, one review and one book chapter.

I am deeply interested in the application of bioinformatic approaches to complex three-dimensional datasets, such as those routinely generated in brain anatomy studies. I joined MindSpec in 2011 to investigate using this approach to better understand the etiology of autism spectrum disorders.
