Autism Reading Room Preview

MindSpec hosted a preview of Autism Reading Room on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, 5:00-10:00 PM, at Old Town Hall in Fairfax, VA. Our researchers provided one-on-one tours of the upcoming website in a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Founder/President Sharmila Banerjee-Basu gave a brief presentation, followed by an interactive demonstration of the Autism Quiz app.

MindSpec published anoriginal research article in PLoS One detailing a predictive gene map for autism based on AutDB gene sets. After compiling a reference set of 84 autism genes, we profiled of their functions and expression patterns. We then screened the human genome to identify 442 potential novel autism candidate genes.

Autism Quiz App Released

To enhance public knowledge of autism, we have created a social media application (“app”) called Autism Quiz which allows the general public to share facts about autism with friends. Freely available on iTunes, our Autism Quiz app features four challenging quizzes: Beginner, Advanced, In the News, and Misconceptions.
